OUR ADVICE FOR A BALANCED HOLIDAY SEASON

OUR ADVICE FOR A BALANCED HOLIDAY SEASON

The holiday season has officially arrived, which means it's time for good times with friends and family, for good food and drinks, and for a lot of social occasions. When following a fitness plan but also wanting to have fun, it's essential to remember the long-term journey!

Here are some of our best pieces of advice in order to have a balanced holiday season.

Take as much rest as you need

With Christmas and the New Year's parties ahead, your sleep schedule might change a bit. That is totally normal and okay! If you need to sleep in longer or if you feel like your body is too tired to hit the gym, there's no shame in taking some extra rest! Instead of going for an all-or-nothing approach, try doing some lighter movement on the days where you feel extra tired, such as an outdoor walk or a stretching session.

Do not skip meals

If you're thinking about skipping breakfast in order to save some calories for dinner... You're basically setting yourself up for failure. Eat as you normally would, and enjoy everything in moderation! Yes, you might eat more than usual, but don't be scared of the water weight - it will go away within a few days of being back into your usual routine.

Stay hydrated

Drink plenty of water and make sure you stay hydrated! This will help with your digestion, and with feeling good. If you have the legal age to drink and decide to have a few cocktails, drinking plenty of water is even more crucial.

Put the extra calories to good use

If you like to lift weights, now is the perfect time to lift with an extra energy boost coming from all of those Christmas dinners! Use that extra fuel to lift heavy and have fun in the gym!

Overview

The holiday season is meant to have fun, to create some memories with loved ones, and to reflect and celebrate the year ending! Remember, your fitness journey isn't a race - it's a lifelong process, and it's healthy for you to enjoy some well-deserved breaks here and there.
