HOW TO REACH AND MAINTAIN YOUR 2025 FITNESS GOALS
New year, new me, right? With the new year coming soon, everyone is feeling inspired, writing down their goals for the year, and planning on how 2025 is about to be THEIR year. New Year's resolutions are more often than not about getting in shape, hitting the gym, and eating healthy.
However, very few resolutionners actually stick to their goals... But why is that? Well, most people set very high expectations for themselves, thinking that they'll become a totally new person the second the clock hits midnight on January 1st.
In order to reach your fitness goals and actually MAINTAIN them this year, we gathered five of our best tips for long-lasting goal setting.
Set realistic goals
Start small and work your way towards your best self gradually. It isn't realistic for you to do a whole 360 on habits you've been building for years, or even for your whole life. Try changing one habit at a time ; apply ONE change in your daily routine, and once it feels natural to do it, try adding a second one! Small steps and consistency always win on the long run.
Set small, medium and big goals
Setting goals with different effort levels can really encourage you to stick to them. Try setting smaller and easier goals, some medium ones, and one or more bigger goals. Reaching those small goals will build trust within yourself and unconsciously encourage you to stick to the bigger ones.
Celebrate your wins
You lost five pounds? You gained five pounds? You went a week without ordering take-out? You were able to eat pizza without feeling guilty?
Whatever win you achieved, remember A WIN IS A WIN! You deserve to celebrate the small steps and to enjoy the whole journey, because some of those small steps aren't that small after all.
Tell your goals to someone you love in order to stay accountable
Accountability is a HUGE factor in maintaining the goals you set for yourself. Sharing your goals with a friend, a family member or a partner can make a big difference, whether it be for accountability or simply for motivation. Speaking about your goals is a great way to find inspiration when you're starting to lack from it.
Write down your goals somewhere you'll see them daily
Make a vision board and use it as your lockscreen, or write down your goals on post-it notes you can stick on your fridge or bathroom mirror! Having a daily reminder to stick to your goals is another way to stay accountable and to keep them in mind always.
